Doha, Qatar — Painting
Layla Al-Mansoori
Layla Al-Mansoori (b. 1987, Doha) works between abstraction and the recovered memory of place. Trained at VCUarts Qatar and the Royal College of Art, her practice traces the edges of the Gulf coastline as a quiet archive of ritual, weather and labour.
Her paintings are slow accumulations — washes of pigment and pumice built over months. The surface holds the heat of the studio: salt, dust, the ochre of a Northern wind.
“I am painting the time between two tides. What stays. What is rinsed away.”
